Brink: “I’ve dedicated my life to public service – making the hard calls, tackling the toughest problems, and holding the powerful, accountable. And right now, our rights, our freedoms, our very democracy – is at stake.”
Brink: “We’ve got to take on the chaos and corruption coming out of Washington because it’s costing Michiganders. Extremists in Washington are sticking us with reckless tariffs that are raising the cost of living for working families.”
LANSING, MI – Today, Democrat Bridget Brink, a lifelong public servant who recently resigned as U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine to speak out against the Trump Administration’s policies, announced her campaign for Michigan’s seventh congressional district.

Raised on Midwestern values of hard work, integrity, and fighting for what’s right, Bridget has dedicated her life to serving our country and defending democracy. Across nearly 30 years in the U.S. Foreign Service, Bridget served under five Presidents, both Democrat and Republican, and was the first woman to serve as U.S. Ambassador in a war zone.
Bridget has dedicated her life to making the hard calls, tackling the toughest problems, and holding the powerful, accountable. Now she’s running for Congress to fight for what’s right for Michigan, and for our country.

Bridget Brink announcing her campaign for Congress:
“Defending Ukraine means ensuring democracies – not dictatorships – thrive. I’m Bridget Brink, and that’s what I did for three years in wartime Ukraine…. Unfortunately, President Trump keeps pressuring our democratic ally, Ukraine, rather than the aggressor, Russia. Appeasing a dictator never has, and never will, achieve a lasting peace. And it’s just not who we are. Because of this, after nearly thirty years of service, I felt it was my duty to step down, so I could speak out.”
“My passion for public service runs deep. My roots in Michigan run even deeper. Six generations ago my family came to Eaton County…. I was raised by a single mom, to make ends meet, we lived with my grandparents…. I attended Michigan public schools, worked my way through college with the help of student loans and scholarships, then joined the U.S. Foreign Service – proudly serving nearly thirty years under five Presidents – both Democrat and Republican.”
“My next mission – to fight for what’s right, here at home. To stand up to unaccountable, unelected billionaires trying to slash and burn our government and undermine our democracy. It’s why I’m running for Congress…. We’ve got to take on the chaos and corruption coming out of Washington, because it’s costingMichiganders. Extremists in Washington are sticking us with reckless tariffs that are raising the cost of living for working families.”
